We went to the quarry for a little while this morning. We only stayed for about 45 minutes, because more and more people were showing up, and the quarry’s only really cool when there’s no one else there.
I gave my board shorts and coolmax shirt a test run. The shorts were fine, but the t-shirt was a tad too small – “too small” meaning “it fit the way it’s supposed to” – and I was uncomfortable. I may have to look into getting a cheap t-shirt to wear in the water while we’re in Hawaii. We’ll see.
Have I mentioned that the board shorts are just as ugly as they could possibly be? They’re hideous. Which, oddly, makes me just like them that much more.

We were flipping channels the other night, and flipped by VH-1 Country (yes, there’s a VH-1 Country! Who the hell knew?). Loretta Lynn was singing, so I made Fred stop so we could watch the video. After a few minutes I realized that Jack White (and I only know what he looks like because I saw
Cold Mountain) was playing guitar. I had no opinion on Jack White one way or the other before I saw the video, but that he was playing backup for Loretta Lynn gave him instant cool credits as far as I’m concerned.
The song, “Miss Being Mrs”, is sad as hell, by the way.

Okay, it’s time to clear out my picture queue. And, not surprisingly, I have about ten thousand pictures of Meester Boogers yawning.

The yawn and stretch.

This one particularly cracks me up.

The stretch, but no yawn.

The distracted yawn.

He’s a yawning motherfucker, that’s right.]]>
I love to see pictures of ALL your cats, including the Bean. But could you possibly give us a few more pictures of Spot and Spanky? I am using one of Spot’s as wallpaper on my computer right now and would love to have one of Spanky too. I realize Bean has a more developed camera personna than your other cats (with the possible exception of Ms. Poo) but lets hear it (see it) for the quiet ones.
Faye – I do actually have a couple of Spanky and Spot (well, Spot’s in the picture, but he’s not the only cat. Heh.) that I plan to put up later this week! 🙂
“Next year, we are SO going the fuck away for the 4th of July. Oh, yes we are. I don’t care WHERE we go, as long as it’s not HERE.”
Unfortunately, Robyn, you are going to encounter assholes with fireworks EVERYWHERE. Trust me, I had the same problem last night and I live in NY.
Grrr!
Count me as a second vote for Spanky pictures. Of course I love pics of all the kitties but I have a soft spot for the Spankster.
We also had assholes setting off fireworks until damn near midnight. I guess your only solution would be to leave the country for Independence Day to say, oh, Paris or something? Works for me! 🙂
Speaking of Loretta Lynn and Jack White, check out her CD “Van Lear Rose” if you haven’t already. I think it’s damn good and that lady’s voice is still strong as ever.
I agree with Cheryle – you will have to leave the country altogether to find some peace and quiet. I just resigned myself to it last night and stayed up until 1am watching TV. It aggravates the hell out of me to lay in bed listening it all the noise. When I did finally get in bed, I could still – at 1:00am! – hear some popping and snapping, but it was far enough away to deal with. Plus, I was pretty tired by that point. I hate hating the 4th of July.
Robyn,
I know how you feel about Wal-Mart, but you may want to check out the shirts there. I bought one last week that is over in the “Just My Size” area and is made for sports and dries very quickly. Not the prettiest but it serves it purpose.
Hi Robyn,
I see you are reading the DaVinci Code. How do you like it?? Give us your analysis once you finish it. I read it this winter and I am reading Angels and Demons now.
…YAWWWWNNN…I don’t know why, but I feel so YAWNY all of a sudden!!
Hee…color me the corny one.
Jack White produced Loretta Lynn’s latest album, which is probably why he was playing back up. 🙂
Leave for Canada on July 2nd or 3rd- our holiday is the first and there really aren’t that many fireworks here anyway.
I don’t think I heard any- although we’re so close to downtown there’s no yards to set off fireworks in anyway. And there’s a drought warning on from Southern California to the Alaska so nobody’s allowed to set anything off without a permit anyway.
I honestly yawned twice while looking out those pictures! Hee!
Oh, Robyn, your neighbors are annoying but we all know you’d NEVER confront them (or anyone)!
That Beany Bean…cute, cute, cute.
lol, Robyn, you’d hate it where I live… this time of summer it doesn’t even START thinking about getting dark until 10:30 or so…. meanaing that fireworks didn’t start until 10:45-11:00. Then again, you tend to adjust your sleep schedule as well. Hard to go to bed at 9pm when it’s fully daylight out!
Love the Bean pics 😀
I was hoping maybe you could help this guy : http://home.att.net/~ascaris1/ccpage.html
He’s on SSI, and can’t afford large vet bills…I’m on SSI too, and I know I would want people helping me if my Chloe got cancer. Just a sad, sad situation.
That’s one tired cat.
